AI Hack: How To Turn Your LinkedIn Profile Into a Personal Website with ChatGPT

LinkedIn might not be around forever, so having a personal website on the web is a good idea. But that task is for many very technical and complicated. So many of us never get to actually give it a try.

In this post, I share how ChatGPT or any other AI chat assistant can quickly create a decent first version of your site.

Here is a straightforward recipe you can try out with any type of content you want to turn into a website:

Video version of this post:

Step 1: Save you LinkedIn profile data

Browse your LinkedIn profile, and right-click > print > save as PDF.

Depending on your activity, you might also do this for your posts. Browse to Show all posts > scroll down a bit to have more posts in your PDF > right-click> save to PDF.

Step 2: Create the content for your personal website with AI

(or your favorite AI Chat assistant)

Start a conversation in ChatGPT. Your prompt could be something like this:

Help me create a personal website about me!
Attached, you will find:
- A PDF showing my LinkedIn Profile
- A PDF showing my recent LinkedIn posts
I want to do this step by step.
First, analyze the PDFs and structure the output the way you would structure it for the landing page.
Any questions?

ChatGPT outlines an essential structure for the site and a description of each section.

In a follow-up prompt, you can work with the AI assistant to get to the first version of the content you want to have on your site.

Step 3: Create the personal website with AI

Once you have landed at a structure and content you think is good enough for the first version of your website, prompt the AI to create the page.

Here is the prompt I used:

Note that I added graphic files that I use for my brand attached to the prompt. You can upload any visual or brand file and ask ChatGPT to consider it when creating the website.

Step 4: Preview and customize your site

ChatGPT creates the website, and you can preview and customize it in ChatGPT.

You can update it by prompting or editing the code directly.

For example, depending on your knowledge, you could prompt “Add a link to LinkedIn profile in the footer” or edit the code directly.

Step 5: Publish the page

The last step of this process is to publish the first version of your personal landing page directly from ChatGPT.

Here is how:
In the next prompt, type “Publish my site using @netlify“.
Netlify is a service you can publish static HTML files freely, and its integrated in ChatGPT.

After the process is completed, you can view your site on a public URL and transfer it to your free Netlify account.

Bonus step: If you connect your domain to your Netlify account, map it to your AI-created website.

An alternative way to share the website with the world is to use the Share feature inside ChatGPT, which is located in the top-right corner.

Conclusion

This simple AI hack demonstrates one of millions of use cases for turning existing content into other formats. In 30 minutes, you can transform your LinkedIn presence into a standalone website showcasing your professional identity without writing a single line of code.

Think of any piece of content you already have and how AI can help turn it into something new. There might be a way that AI helps you to get to a decent first version of it, or at least a prototype to send around.
