Rolf Mistelbacher

I got online for the first time in 1996, and since then, I have been hooked on the web. A modem, a GeoCities account, and an FTP connection- that's how I got started on the web.

Back then, I started tinkering with apps before the word app was coined.

Professionally, I started my career in online marketing at Microsoft. That was in 2000 at a very young age. Online marketing was banners, static websites, and email blasts.

During my 10 years at Microsoft, online marketing changed a lot. The arrival of blogs, social media, smartphones, modern browsers, apps turned online marketing into a broad field. (Let us not talk about Windows Vista here)

In 2011, I set out to start my own thing. At first, I worked with startups, for a brief time at a PR firm before founding my own agency, Fresh van Root.

Fresh van Root began as a boutique digital marketing agency primarily serving SaaS, B2B, and tech startups. Now, our client base has expanded to encompass a diverse range of sectors. We actively collaborate with foundations, social business startups, and cultural institutions, making these dynamic and varied groups the core focus of our work today.

We also publish our original content. The Creators of All Trades newsletter is a bi-weekly publication for B2B creators, with curated reads and tested apps, opinions, and tricks to hack your workflow.

Now, what are my favorite topics today? I am an experienced digital marketing generalist with a strong interest in everything related to content marketing, blogging, and social media. And right now, of course, how AI is changing the game.
