Publii: A Static CMS that Requires Zero Technical Skills to Launch Your Website

Static file CMS or frameworks have been trending for a few years now. Compared to WordPress, these tools (like Hugo) are a way techier and do cater to a different audience, compared to WordPress, Squarespace, or any other “classic” content management systems.

Then I discovered Publii. A static website builder with a graphical user interface that you can use to launch your personal blog or landing page within minutes.

Publii is an app for Windows or macOS that you can install for free. You can create and configure your website, write your first post, and launch without writing a line of code or paying a buck.

How is that different from WordPress? You do not need a database, a PHP hosting space. Publii generates static HTML files that are uploaded to a server.

And how is it different from a tool like Hugo? You do not need to write code or use a command line to install it.

I have tried Publii and connected it to my personal domain rolfhq.com (with Netlify). If you are looking for a simple solution to launch your blog, you should definitely check out Simplii.

BTW: I am working on a How-To post that goes into all details of how to create your personal blog from start to finish using Publii. Sign up for our newsletter to get notified when it’s ready.

Here are a few more screenshots of Publii that give you an idea about the features.
