Humans Cant Spot AI-Assisted Writing

“It sounds like ChatGPT wrote it” is a phrase often heard over the last two years. But in 2025, it’s no longer possible to detect if something has been written by AI, at least not for humans.

The days of “ever-evolving landscape” and “in our fast-paced digital world” suggestions are over, and AI-assisted content is no longer distinguishable from content written without AI. Maybe for machines it still is, but for humans it’s not.

I have been using Claude a lot lately for assistance with writing, and its Projects and Styles features lead to results that require minimal editing.

It’s about providing examples, prompting, and human oversight and experience.

Before asking the AI assistant to help me improve my writing, I provided examples of it.

Blog posts, newsletters, and social media posts I have written, as well as input on the target audience, etc. Over the last couple of months, this has significantly improved the output.

I turn to the AI assistant with an 80% draft, which includes specific talking points, background information, and other relevant details.

Sure, there is always one phrase that feels off, or words I wouldn’t use, etc. – so it’s never a copy-and-paste thing.

The key is to think about how AI can assist with writing. Creating something from scratch without a proper briefing will ultimately require going back to the start anyway.
