Devs and Vibecoders Merge and Sometimes Collide

AI and vibecoding bring millions of people into building digital products with a greenhorn attitude and a “works on localhost” mindset.

Then they hit a wall and frantically search for someone who learned the craft of building in the pre-AI age.

Devs have to fix wrong architectural decisions and look in astonishment at spaghetti code in files with 1000+ lines.

That is not fun, looking at some AI-generated code.

The vibecoder attitude allows creative types to explore freely. Devs earn the job of validating, improving quality, and making things more robust.

Some vibecoders get on a learning journey. They want to learn the inner workings, how to build future-proof architecture, and level up. Others just want to tinker, have fun, and hand things over to devs when it gets serious.

Both are needed.

Vibecoders need to accept that there is a real craft behind prompting away. Devs have to accept that millions of vibecoders are streaming into their craft. They are not going away.

The craft is not disappearing. The neighborhood is just changing.
