Welcome to the blog post version of our newsletter for marketing nerds and entrepreneurs. This post features apps/tools/resources marketers with a hands-on mentality should know about.

Our email newsletter also has a section with hand-picked articles that we recommend to read. You won’t find this section anywhere else.

Create videos for social media

Kapwing is one of many many tools I recently discovered that allows you to create short animated video clips. Think of an animation showcasing a product, or service, using pictures with text overlays, audio, and subtitles. Basically, the typical videos you see all day in your newsfeeds.

If you are looking for an easy to learn tool for social media video creation in your browser, give it a try!

Key features

  • Upload your images and videos
  • Create text overlays and animated text
  • Add subtitles
  • Export the video
  • You can edit the same video in your browser as a team
  • Free to get started

Another new email service to be launched

The makers of Basecamp are working on their own new email service called HEY. It’s cool to see that after chat overload lots of companies remember that email isn’t that bad, we just need a fresh approach to handling it (and therefore, a new tool).

Right now, you can only sign up for the beta invite.

With HEY, we’ve done just that. It’s a redo, a rethink, a simplified, potent reintroduction of email. A fresh start, the way it should be.

HEY is our love letter to email, and we’re sending it to you. Coming April 2020 to the web, iOS, and Android.

The domain name is cool: HEY.com.

Analyze the email marketing strategy of your competitor

If email marketing is a big part of your job you might want to check out SendView.

The service allows to subscribe and view emails of your competitors. You get a birds-eye view on the emails sent in a centralized inbox. You can inspect each email and get additional data, like a spam score.

If you are interested in the service, get on the waiting list!

Free Isometric illustrations

Isometric illustrations are seen everywhere on the web, especially on websites of technology startups. If you want to add some of those illustrations to your site or marketing material, you can browse isometric.online and check if it has what you are looking for.

The license allows both personal and commercial use of the illustrations, without attribution.

By the way, in case you are wondering how to customize SVG files: Powerpoint allows editing SVG files.

Export your Google account data

Google Takeout is a service that allows you to export *all* data that is in your Google account. That includes Gmail messages, your YouTube watch history, Hangouts conversation history, and services you didn’t know exist and collect data about you (up to 50 products).

I just requested an export, it can possibly take hours or days to complete the export. As a marketer, I’m interested in getting to know what type of data Google has on me.
